Creslane Elementary School
Seismic Rehabilitation
McKenzie Commercial was contracted to perform the seismic retrofit and bring the building into compliance while also performing seismic upgrades to two other rural schools. We have worked with ZCS Engineering in the past on Oakridge School District projects, pooling our experience and collaborative approach to satisfy the necessary seismic improvements.
The scope of work included infilling existing windows and the installation of new shear walls at various engineered shear wall constructs. The roof received improvements that included new plywood sheathing. A seismic isolation joint was installed at the District Office location, isolating the eastern and western portion of the school.
In addition to the seismic rehabilitation, we reframed and sheathed openings in classrooms and district offices where windows had once been, removed the stage at the south end of cafeteria, poured a new slab and refinished the area. The school also received 8 new windows in the cafeteria, as well as new siding and paint to the west side of the school, and additional new gutters and downspouts.
